Tachiyomi Manga Reader
The free, open-source manga, manhwa and webtoon reader for Android. Tachiyomi 0.15.3 is the final stable release: organize your whole collection in one customizable library, read offline, and keep full control of your data.
What is Tachiyomi?
Tachiyomi turns an Android phone or tablet into a personal reading hub. Instead of scattering bookmarks, downloads and progress across apps, it brings everything into one structured library you can sort, filter, update and read offline. It is a reader and library manager, not an online bookstore - no manga or source extensions are bundled with it.
Discontinued, but still fully usable
On January 13, 2024, the original team ended active development following legal pressure involving Kakao Entertainment. Tachiyomi 0.15.3 became the final release. Existing installs were not disabled and still work - there are simply no further updates from the original developers. If you want ongoing development, actively maintained successors such as Mihon, TachiyomiSY and TachiyomiJ2K can restore a compatible backup (see the FAQ).
Built for serious readers
Everything stays under your control - the library, the reading experience, your downloads and your data.
Keep large libraries under control
Sort series into custom categories such as Reading, Completed or Plan to Read. Filter by downloaded, unread, started or bookmarked, switch between grid and list layouts, and sort by name, latest chapter, date added or last read. Scheduled updates check for new chapters automatically.
Read every format comfortably
Choose right-to-left, left-to-right, vertical or continuous reading. Adjust page scaling, zoom, orientation, navigation, transitions, crop and background. Use page-based navigation for manga and long-strip scrolling for webtoons, globally or per series.
Download chapters for offline reading
Save single chapters, ranges or batches of unread chapters to the device. Downloads stay available with no connection, ideal for travel, commuting or limited data. Restrict to Wi-Fi, pick a folder, manage a queue and auto-remove chapters after reading.
Track your reading progress
Optionally connect supported tracking services including MyAnimeList, AniList, Kitsu, MangaUpdates, Shikimori and Bangumi. Tracking is entirely optional: Tachiyomi works fully as a local reader with no external account.
Back up the entire library
Create a local backup of your library, categories, reading progress, history and app settings. Keep it on the device or in cloud storage, and use it to move to a new Android device or migrate to a compatible community reader. Regular backups are strongly recommended.
Private by design
The core library is stored locally on the device, with no central account required. Version 0.15.3 removed crash reporting, analytics and automatic update checks, and reading history can be paused at any time with Incognito Mode.

Getting started with Tachiyomi
Install the APK, then add your own content - Tachiyomi opens as an empty library that you fill from local files or separately configured sources.
1. Install the APK on Android
Download the APK
Choose the Universal build unless a device-specific package is required. Tachiyomi is distributed as an APK and is not installed through Google Play.
Allow the install
Android may ask permission to install unknown apps from the browser or file manager you used. Grant it only to that trusted app; you can turn it off again afterwards.
Open the file and install
Tap the downloaded Tachiyomi APK and select Install. An existing install can usually be updated in place when the signature is compatible.
Choose a storage folder
On first launch, pick the folder Tachiyomi will use for downloads, local content and backups. When restoring, select your existing Tachiyomi folder if possible.
Restore or start fresh
Open More > Data and storage to restore a compatible backup, or begin a new library with local files or separately configured sources.
2. Add your content: sources & extensions
Add local content
Tachiyomi reads compatible manga and comic files stored on the device. Place them in the app local folder, add them to your library, and read them with the same reader controls used everywhere else. This is the most stable way to use the app because it does not depend on changing websites.
Configure sources separately
Version 0.15.3 ships without an official extension catalog. Compatible extension repositories can be added manually under More > Settings > Browse > Extension repos. Extensions are separate Android packages and can stop working when the website they connect to changes.
Browse, add and read
Installed sources appear in the Browse section. Search a single source or use global search, open a title and select Add to Library, then pick a reading mode. Reader settings such as reading direction, scaling and continuous scrolling can be changed without leaving the reader.
About third-party extensions: they are not reviewed, maintained or endorsed by the original Tachiyomi developers, and this site does not host or link to any. Install only software from repositories you can independently trust, and use only content that is legally available in your country.
